To obtain a quicker hip replacement I changed my surgeon to Mr Vats. At first, I was concerned that I hadn't met him, but his administrative staff quickly fitted me into his busy day so that I could talk to him before having my operation. I instantly knew that I had made a good decision as he made me feel confident and at ease. A member of his team came to see me before and after the operation as did Mr Vats which didn't happen when I had my first replacement. My care throughout my stay at Ashford Hospital was very positive and the staff were efficient and kind. After four weeks I attended an appointment to see Mr Vats and again he was happy to answer all of my questions. My only negative comment would be that I was told that my operation would be at 10.30 a.m., and I didn't go from the ward until after 12.00 which made me a little more nervous that when I had arrived at 7.00 a.m.

The care I received from Dr Vat’s and his team was outstanding from start too finish and the care I received from the doctors and nurse’s on Dickens’s ward was equally outstanding at no time on arrival at the hospital did I feel uncomfortable or nervous with everything being explained about the pros and cons of what might go right or wrong it’s the best decision I’ve ever made and life changing for me again thank you all

Following a fall in which I badly broke my left leg, Mr Vats was my surgeon and fitted an Ilizarov Frame in order to mend the damage. I saw him soon after the surgery and on numerous occasions over the next 8 months. At all times he has been excellent and very helpful to me. Obviously, I would rather that I hadn't met him but I feel extremely fortunate that I have. He shows a definite interest in you as an individual and genuinely seems to enjoy his work. I've no doubt that I'm not alone in my opinion and will always be grateful for his brilliance and help.

From my first consultation with Mr Vats, the care and professionalism I received for my knee replacement was excellent. His team on the day of the operation kept me informed and I couldn't have been looked after any better. Every single person in Ashford Hospital from Mr Vats, surgeons, anaesthetist, nurses, physiotherapist, porters and tea ladies did the job with a smile on their faces which made the whole experience so much more bearable. I have now been given my life back and can't thank Mr Vats enough. The NHS at its best.
